Resfest Update #3
This is the last of three Resfest updates. We’ve already covered 2 Flash-animated projects that are being featured at the touring film festival - a music video from Of Montreal and another video from Sioen - ‘At a Glance.’
Last up is my personal favorite. I’ve been a fan of the British duo Lemon Jelly since their 2002 release of ‘Lost Horizons.’ Track 3, ‘Ramblin’ Man,’ is simply one of my favorite songs of all time.
And at Resfest this year, in the Videos That Rock screening, the music video for ‘The Shouty Track,’ is being featured. But get this - Lemon Jelly band member Fred Deakin and his design shop Airside produced the video. He’s the Creative Director at the London-based design company that recently created a few animated clips for U.K. telecom giant Orange.
Fred carries a rare mix of skills (can’t think of another artist who did production design on his own video - maybe Liam Lynch?) and his talents recently helped Lemon Jelly create their own animated video compilation DVD. According to the Resfest site, the gang at Airside used Flash and After Effects to create the video for ‘The Shouty Track,’ and I’m guessing the same goes for their older videos for ‘Nice Weather for Ducks’ and ‘Spacewalk.’
