Flash Animation in the News

Flash animation is really spreading it’s wings, and that’s no more evident that this week. We’ve got news about Flash animation on Hasbro’s new portable video device, a Flash animated website that won a prestigious advertising award, and the world’s biggest radio star uses Flash to announce his transition.

First up, Hasbro’s VuGo, which, according to a press-release, “allows tech-savvy tweens to have access to their favorite TV shows, music and photos all in one sleek and stylish hand-held media system – whenever they want and wherever they go!” It’s been released just in time for the holiday buying rush, and I recently read that an episode of ‘Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends,’ the Flash-animated series, will be available for download. The price of the download is currently listed at $2.99, which seems a bit high, especially when you consider that an episode of ‘Lost’ for your iPod runs $1.99.

In other news, Wendy’s Flash-animated campaign, ‘Good to Be Square,’ recently won an award in the Interactive category at The London International Advertising Awards. Cold, Hard Flash has covered this campaign closely, and twice interviewed the Director Aaron Stewart, who works at Hornet, Inc. Congrats!

And lastly, Howard Stern, the most popular radio personality in the world, has released a short and simple Flash-animation announcing his eventual transition over to Sirius Satellite Radio. If you know Howard’s taste, I can only say I warned you.
