Pileated Feeds The Lions
Pileated Pictures has been in the Flash animation game since the beginning.
They’ve since added a strong 3D animation focus, but they continue to produce in Flash, including recent work for the PBS show ‘Between The Lions.’ Pileated has created over a dozen animated shorts for the show, a a music video (mov), and now 3 children’s stories they’re calling “animated books.” The first of these, ‘Coyote and Rabbit, was animated in Flash. PBS will airing them in the new season which just started in April. Below that is ‘Stolen Smells,’ which is also worth a watch.
One of these animated books was produced primarily in Flash, and animated by Joe Corrao (4 Eyed Animation), who was also an early entrant into the Flash animation world. Way back in 1999, he started releasing things like ‘The Sluggy and Poppo Show,’ and more recently, ‘Just Say I Didn’t Know.’ The music video mentioned above features a character design style that might look familiar. It’s the work of Chris Georgenes, the man behind Mudbubble. Chris animated the majority of that piece, but here was also a great deal of After Effects work and a touch of 3D.
