Thea Glad used Flash and After Effects to produce her second year final project at Kingston University. It’s titled Pretty Little Things, and its a comment on workplace sexual harassment. No dialog, only slaps, stares and poor behavior.

Copernicus Brings Bravoman Back to Life

Bravoman, who was introduced in an 80s Japanese arcade game by Namco, has returned in the form of an animated series. The first 5-minute episode is now live on YouTube, brought to life by Copernicus Studios. Rob Paulsen (Pinky from Pinky and the Brain) plays the role of Bravoman, and YouTube sensation Area 11 produced the theme song. Here’s The Beginning and End of Bravoman:

Fund Raising For Esoteric Birthday

Guillermo Tovar C and his wife Nadia Mendoza A have been working on The Esoteric Birthday for over 7 years. It’s a full-length, animated feature film, produced in Costa Rica. It’s not aimed a traditional Disney/DreamWorks audience, but it looks gorgeous and interesting. They’re nearly finished, but using Indiegogo, they’re raising completion funding. Go help ‘em out!

According to Guillermo, all animation was “done with Flash. Even the storyboard and some of the concept art. Post-production has been done in Photoshop and After Effects.”

Jonathan Gay, Gary Grossman and Robert Tatsumi, the three founders of Flash, have teamed up on a new video project. It’s not necessarily something that relates to animation, but it’s interesting to see what these bright minds are up to.

Explory, a software project seeking $50,000 on Kickstarter, is “a new way to use your phone to create & share rich, compelling stories. It puts a digital studio in your pocket.” Here’s their pitch video, and to learn more about the co-founders of Flash, check out our 2008 interview.

Eoin Duffy, who is also working with George Takei on a short titled The Missing Scarf, has revealed a new whimsical piece titled Encounter. Duff designed a very lean, suggestive world for this short, and the character designs would make Charley Harper proud. It’s also quite funny.
